Dewey Beach is where Washington singles—young and old—go to relax, drink, and find true love. Or at least a good one-night stand. Check out our photos of the Dewey Beach scene.

Someone here needs to remember why Dewey is so popular and that is what attracts us to come... i am a single, professional mom who rents for the summer so that i can come to Dewey when i dont have the kids every other wknd... i love coming because i can let loose, have fun and then go back home refueled to mom status.
Anyways, my point is that us "jackasses", are mostly professionals (teachers, vp’s of companies, business owners ect...) that create "your jobs" and business revenue for Dewey! Yes i have fun and get crazy on the weekend, but during the week i bring my children for the quiet side of Dewey. I thouroughly enjoyed the article and passed it on to my out of state friends to entice them to come visit.

I read your article. I think you’ve done an excellent job of capturing the true essence of the typical Washingtonian’s perspective on Dewey. Unfortunately, as expected, you are so far off base it’s embarrassing. Although no one, myself included, should be surprised by this. Maybe you should try some real reporting and actually immerse yourself in the culture. Try living there for awhile. Try interviewing the people who work there and have to deal with the jackasses that you portray in your article. Maybe you should track down someone who lived, worked and played in Dewey in the heyday and still choose to return. They could give you some perspective on how its changed and how its stayed the same. But rather, you’ve chosen to only capture the non-sensical 48 hours of "that Dewey guy" who we all hate. Thanks that’s an awesome picture to paint for the world of my home town. Keep up the good work. Let me know when you want to become a real journalist and let your readers see both sides of the story - not just the easy one.
