Attack on the Street: Your Worst and Best Dates

By Emily Leaman , Alejandro Salinas

Welcome to our new Friday feature, Attack on the Street. We attack Washingtonians on the street (in a totally friendly way, of course!) and ask them our question of the week.

Welcome to our new Friday feature, Attack on the Street. We attack Washingtonians on the street (in a totally friendly way, of course!) and ask them our question of the week. This week, in honor of our new Dating Diaries feature (we're still accepting applications!) we wanted to know: What was your worst or best date? Some of the dates made us say aw, some of them made us say ew. Judge for yourself: watch the video below.

Have had a really terrible or really great date? We want to hear about it! Leave 'em in the comments below.

For my first official date with a guy that I’d been hanging out with, he thought it would be cool to take me to dinner and then to an indie film festival at Goethe-Institut. There were four films per ticket, and our third film was a documentary about "Pony Play" (just Google it). Of course, we had no idea what it was until we were fully immersed in it, and it definitely wasn’t our thing. We were squirming uncomfortably in our chairs, squeezing each other’s hand whenever anything extra scary happened, and whispering about how horrific it was and how we would leave if we weren’t completely blocked in by the people to our right. When the lights finally came on at the end of the final film, we discovered that the people sitting to our right comprised one of the couples that had "starred" in the pony play film. We bolted out of there with incredible speed and urgency, and finished the night by drinking away our trauma at RFD.

I went on a date in college where the guy thought that it would be a good idea to site next to during dinner. When it came time to order, he sort of whispered to me what he wanted...as if he were nervous around the waiter. Already annoyed, I had to eat my meal with him RIGHT next to me. Not just on the same side of the booth - practically on my lap and touching me. Why I decided to continue with the movie portion of the date is still beyond me...
Once we arrived at the theatre, he ordered the tickets and then turned to look at me. He had spent all of his money on dinner (which was a chain restaurant by the way). The entire movie was spent with him asking me what was wrong and why I wasn’t talking to him. Ummm...since when are you supposed to hold a conversation during a movie?!

And he was surprised that I never wanted a 2nd date.
