Your guide to the region's top events, mixed with some commentary about life, media, gossip and politics in Washington, DC.

The Morning Buzz

Good morning, Washington! Here's what we're reading around the web this AM.

Photo by Flickr user Laura Padgett

Have you voted yet for the winner in our sports-themed photo contest? No? Then get crackin'! Voting closes on Monday. With well over 1,000 votes registered, we're looking for even more.

Were you at one of our convention watching parties last night? Then you saw the historic moment of Barack Obama officially accepting his party's presidential nomination. McCain is expected to reveal his choice for vice president soon.

New Hill coffee shop Peregrine (replacing the old Murky) is now open.

Going to the beach this weekend? (If so, we kind of hate you.) You're gonna want to factor in a ton of extra time for the drive.

Heroes cutie Hayden Panettiere wants DC voting rights as much as we do.
