I like National, but tickets from there are usually more expensive (at least in my experience). I guess it’s the trade-off for convenience.

Nearly all the airports I know are located way out of cities. Washington National is only an easy Metro ride away. I suppose it has to be for the convenience of all those who come from different parts of the United States.
I will say this for Chicago’s O’Hare: if you have a few hours between flights it is good for walking, being so extensive.
