Washingtonian.com Introduces Reader Restaurant Reviews

Want to play food critic? Now you can write your own restaurant reviews on Washingtonian.com!

By Catherine Andrews

Did you just get waited on by the best server you’ve ever met? Or pay $25 for a piece of bland foie gras? Did your delivery pizza show up delicious—or was it a greasy mess? We know you’ve got loads of opinions on local restaurants, and we want to hear them. That’s why we’ve just launched reader restaurant reviews on Washingtonian.com. Now you can rate a restaurant on a scale of one to five and let us know if it’s a good spot for, say, a date or a business meeting and then write your own review.

Writing the reviews is easy. To start, just use our Restaurant Finder to locate the restaurant you’d like to comment on, or check out our Reviews section. When you get to the restaurant’s main page, either click the “write a review” button above the sidebar box or scroll to the bottom to find the link to write a review. You’ll be prompted to create a user login, which only requires you to enter your e-mail address and a password. (This information will not be used in any other manner except to log you in to write reviews.)

Then rate and review away! You can preview your review to make sure you like what you’ve written, or just go ahead and submit it directly. Right away, your valuable contribution will be added to Washingtonian.com for all readers to see.

If you have any questions or technical difficulties with the reader-review function, please don’t hesitate to contact me at candrews@washingtonian.com, or leave a comment in this blog post with your e-mail address. We want this feature to work to the best of its abilities and to help you continue to turn to Washingtonian.com for up-to-date and informative restaurant information.

Happy reviewing!

Chef Kaz is amazing! Last night my husband and I sat at the bar at his Sushi Bistro at 1915 Eye Street. We wanted to avoid rice and eat only vegetables. In addition to luscious tofu ageh dashi style and spinach salad with mushrooms, Kaz made us the most fantastic rolls using shredded dikon instead of rice, filling them with delicious fresh vegetables. Ginger herb tea complimented a beautiful, satisfying and very healthy meal.

Do not go to this restaurant!Regardless of the food, the poor service quality does not make visit worth it at all!

The Worst Service ever!We ended up leaving the restaurant before ordering because of the offensive and incompetent staff. It took over 30 min to sit down.We requested our waitor to send us a sommelier to select a proper wine for us but he never came.We reluctantly went with the waitor’s recommendation but did not like the wine at all during tasting so wanted something else. The manager showed up and told us that we had to pay for the bottle that we did not like! The Sommelier finally showed up but he was very condescending. The waitor, manager and sommelier, all 3 of them told us the same rude comment, "price point" while discussing the wine choices (and kept recommending the cheapest wines on the menu), as if we didn’t seem to be able to afford a nice wine. This repeated comment hightly offended us!

We are entertaining friends from out of town and would like to take them to Frederick to stroll around and then have dinner. Can you suggest some restaurants either in Frederick or in the Potomac/Rockville area. Thank you very much.
