The DC spinoff of Cafe Salsa (1712 14th St., NW; 202-588-5286)—the original is in Old Town Alexandria—claims to serve the best mojito in town. But what do diners actually think of the drinks and Nuevo Latin cuisine? We staked out the new bar and restaurant to find out.

I’m not sure about the new one, but the old one SUCKS! Being born and raised in Latin American I can say that I have NEVER tasted a worse mofongo in my life. And that olive dip sauce at the beginning? YUCK!!! I can understand Nuevo Latino cusine, and that it won’t taste like the original dish, but it should still taste good.
