We've already spotted apples at the farmers market and stews and braises on restaurant menus. In other words, fall is here. While we're sad to see juicy peaches and sweet corn disappear, there's lots of good stuff to look forward to: pork, butternut squash, and pears, to name a few. What else are you excited about with fall approaching? Did you have a dish last year that you've been waiting to try again? What's the first fall ingredient you'll look for at the farmers market? Let us know in the comments!

I love the Thanksgiving burger at BGR. It was the burger of the month for November last year and I’m hoping they bring it back. They pair it with the shake of the month - pumpkin pie. It’s a dynamic duo.

I actually love this particular time of year when we can have "straddle season" dishes, ie late summer figs AND early fall turnips. Adour’s twist on a shepherd’s pie amuse bouche during restaurant week was a great preview. Mmm can’t wait

Acorn squash. I pine for the day that I can make root vegetable lasanga!

Old Ebbitt Grill has this dish that is simply called fall vegetables. It is outstanding and I have been dreaming of it for three seasons. Acorn squash, kale, cranberries, and pumpkin seeds, over a neat pile of wild rice. It’s the epitome of autumn.

Gone are the robust bureaus for the Los Angeles Times, Newhouse News, and other once-healthy news organizations. Digital media bureaus now are taking their places with as many reporters and plenty of swagger.
