With parental supervision, kids ages three to six can learn to make snowmen and snowflake brownies ($25; 10 to 11), and older kids can take an independent lesson on Christmas whoopie pies ($45; 12:30 to 2). For adults and kids over age six, there’s an afternoon lesson on gingerbread houses ($65; 2 to 4) and an evening class on sushi ($59; 6 to 8). Reserve by calling 703-433-1909. Click here for more.

Saturday, November 28

At CulinAerie cooking school (1131 14th St., NW; 202-587-5674 in DC’s Thomas Circle, owner/instructor Susan Watterson will teach you how to make scone mix, lemon curd, cranberry-port preserves, granola, and white-chocolate bark—all easy-to-make edible holiday gifts. Sunday, November 29

Today’s the last day to give to Urbana’s (2121 P St., NW; 202-956-6650) food drive, a collection of supplies for the outreach programs at Church of the Pilgrims in DC’s Dupont Circle. Bring in a nonperishable food item for a free appetizer or glass of wine.
