Last night, we got a chance to hang out with Art Smith at his new Capitol Hill restaurant, Art and Soul, and learned that the Chicago-based chef often cooked for the Obama family before the Illinois senator set off on the campaign trail. Should Obama take up residence in the White House, Smith hopes to replicate some of his favorite dishes.
Sari Zernich, executive director of the Art Smith Company, told us that while Obama sometimes indulges himself, he’s largely a healthy eater—salmon and broccoli are two of his favorites. The Capitol building is just a short walk from Art and Soul, so if Obama wins, maybe it’ll become the next sure-fire place to spot the president—or at least his secret service.
