Sidewalk Style: On Ice
This week, we stepped off the sidewalk and into the ice-skating rink at the National Gallery of Art’s sculpture garden.

Kim: Old Navy down jacket; H&M tights, scarf, and legwarmers; Armani Exchange hat; bag from the Baltimore flea market.
Felicia: Coat and hat from Value Village (coat’s label is Beaubois), Zara hoodie, Forever 21 turtleneck, Danskin tights, scarf from a thrift store in Fairfax.
Stayce: Donna Karan ski turtleneck and tights, down wrap-style jacket from BlueSand purchased in Italy, CrownCap hat, Prada shades, Forever 21 earrings. How would you describe your style?
Kim: “Modern and chic. You’ll find me wearing dark, tight jeans, high boots, and a very fitted, low-cut shirt. It’s my uniform.”
Felicia: “I’m kinda vintage-rocker-romantic. I wear a lot of jeans, a lot of lace and jewelry. And a ton of bracelets. My one staple is high heels.”
Stayce: “I’m definitely a jeans freak. Otherwise, it depends on the occasion.”
Kim: “Stayce’s very relaxed—she has every color of Uggs. She’s a bit more conservative.”
Favorite shops?
Kim: “I love BCBG.”
Felicia: “I do a ton of thrift-store shopping. I go to Forever 21 for basics such as tees and turtlenecks, and I like Urban Outfitters.”
Stayce: “Nordstrom, H&M, Zara, and Urban Outfitters.” What do you think about style in Washington? Will Michelle Obama have an impact on style here?
Felicia: “There are a lot of copycats. If you wear something outside of the box, people look at you funny.”
Kim: “I’m not sure about her impact. It’s a conservative government town. We’d have to have more businesses here relating to fashion and more fashion jobs. That would make the change.” Rachel says:
Skating is a great excuse to buy leggings and, best of all, legwarmers! I love that Felicia’s feminine, 1940s-style coat came from a thrift store. One of my favorite pairs of earrings came from the same one. I get compliments all the time, and they cost $1.50. Talk about recession chic.
