This week, we stop a Hill staffer in a bright cardigan and vintagey accents.

What she’s wearing: An Old Navy cardigan ($7.99!), Theory skirt, her grandmother’s jet beads, and Hale Bob flats from the Palisades consignment store Inga’s Once is Not Enough.

Tell me about style on the Hill: “Well, I obviously work for a very stylish woman. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that I’m as influenced as the rest of America by Mrs. Obama. In recent months, I’ve tried to wear less suits and more dresses. Partly because it’s summer, but partly because it’s more accepted now. Capitol Hill is still a man’s world in terms of dressing—it’s freezing inside so men wear three layers! So it’s hard to wear a sheath dress, and it’s hard to make a coffee run in a long-sleeved sweater. The air conditioning is my fashion pet peeve on the Hill.”

And what about pantyhose? “I’m anti-pantyhose. If Michelle Obama can go sleeveless to the State of the Union address, I think that career women on Capitol Hill can go without pantyhose to the Capitol.”

We here in DC call that look the frump-a-dump. Maybe if Billy Goat Gruff Pelosi stopped blowing the budget on plane rides home every week, she could afford to pay you enough to buy a fashion magazine. You definitely need to start wearing hose and stop emulating them. All of your so-called friends need to go to confession.

I think you look like a tramp or slut if you don’t wear pantyhose. Come on women wear them. I’m just a straight guy and i still wear them everyday under my clothes and I have legs better than 99% of the girls. I tear a hole in the cotton crotch for coolness and comfort then I can do EVERYTHING in them. Anyone want to see my pic in them? ilovehose@hotmail.com

I am with you on the no pantyhose issue Stacy but why not turn The Hill upside down and don a leather miniskirt to work one day. I have a black one you can borrow if you would like.

Stacy should forget about taking fashion tips from Speaker Pelosi and First Lady Obama and instead turn to VVSC and Corned Beef. Come to think of it, that shade of yellow would really compliment Corned Beef’s red hair and pale skin.

BTW, have I mentioned how much I hate Dave Dana today.

Ms. Kerr is admirable. I love her honesty of loving "a good deal" without having to spend outlandish amounts of money to look stylish AND savy.
Forget the tips from Speaker Pelosi and the First Lady. They could take them from her. She would turn my head walking down the street. Smokin.....
