Where & When: Fashion Edition

This week's schedule is light on the in-store events, but there are still plenty of fashion-y activities to keep you busy.

By Betsy Lowther

Wednesday, April 30: As we excitedly mentioned last week, fab Dupont Circle boutique Terra is offering NARS beauty and brow consultations and 15 percent off their spring lines from 6:30 to 8:30pm. RSVP to hello@shopterradc.com.

Thursday, May 1: Set your Tivos, people. Project Runway judge (and just-scandalously-fired Elle editor) Nina Garcia and Annapolis' own Project Runway star Christian Siriano (who we just spotted last week looking super-fierce at the Marymount University senior fashion show) are guest-starring as themselves on tonight's episode of Ugly Betty, which starts at 8pm. (Catch a hilarious preview clip on ABC's site here. Ferocious!)

Friday, May 2: Art-inspired fashion is among the biggest trends this season, and what better place to rock some painterly looks (or get inspired to DIY your own) than First Friday in Dupont Circle? The neighborhood's galleries stay open late with coordinated receptions from 6 to 8pm; find the full list (and prep your gallery-hopping plan) here.

Saturday, May 3: Grab your biggest, boldest hat before heading to the Virginia Gold Cup at the Great Meadow in The Plains, VA. Some people go for the all-day tailgating and steeplechase race; we love the upscale Ascot-meets-classic Southern ensembles. The bigger the flower accent, the better!

Through September 1: Two amazingly stylish new exhibitions recently opened up at The National Portrait Gallery. Works by shutterbug Zaida Ben-Yusuf feature New York's savviest dressers at the turn of the 20th century, while images from longtime Vanity Fair portrait photog Edward Steichen give a glimpse of well-clad celebrities from the early to mid-1900s.

Movers & Shoppers: Must-know address changes and other announcements

*Statement-making jewelry designer Bobbie Medlin recently gave up her Georgetown location to make way for a new American Apparel store, but luckily, she's set up a gorgeous new second-floor shop nearby at 1155 30th St. (just off M Street).

* Logan Circle-area rug guru Timothy Paul has just opened up a new outpost focused on bedding and homewares at 1529A 14th St. NW (between P and Q streets), where you'll find colorful, quirky home accessories and gorgeously graphic textiles.

* Not far away, former Adams Morgan furniture haven Miss Pixie's has just opened up in a much bigger space at 1626 14th St. NW (at R Street).

*Have you been to Bethesda Row yet? There's still a slew of great shops still to come, but Ginger and The Little Shoebox are open for business and worth the trip. And while you're in the neighborhood, check out our new picks for area's best secondhand and vintage shopping too.
