Theater Bargains Tickets to Shakespeare’s plays in the 1500s and 1600s are said to have cost a penny. Now they cost a lot more, which might be one of the reasons Washington’s theater audiences are missing a younger demographic. In an effort to tame this shrew of a problem, several theaters are starting cheap-ticket initiatives to entice the younger crowd. Read here for more. Theaters don’t advertise it, but there are cheap seats to be had for some of the best shows in town. Find out how to get them here.

I’m in desperate need of help with paint selection (3 years in new house with builders’ paint). The interior design locations you mention are focused on furniture. Know of any resources that offer free or cheap design help for paint colors? Thanks.

This is in response to David’s comment about the lack of men’s consignment. As a Consignment Boutique owner, and a former buyer/district manager for a New York based men’s clothing company, I have found that the majority of men hang on to their clothes until they are well past their shelf life!! For the small portion of men who actually enjoy shopping for clothing deals it is not enough to sustain a thriving business. if you are internet savvy, then there are a couple of reputable shops that sell mens clothing online. Please check www.NARTS.org which is the National Organization for Resale and Thrift Shops - there are some shops listed that have a wonderful selection of mens wear and you can shop ’til you drop at any hour of the day!!

Regarding the article in the August issue on consignment shops ("Cheap Chic," by Gretchen Cook and Sara Levine), it’s frustrating that there is no mention of whether these stores sell clothes for men. (Checking the Web sites, it seems as if only one of them does.) I had the same feeling I get when I go into a store and the men’s clothes, if there are any at all, are in a tiny little corner in the back. We are half of the population ... what gives?
