Eleni Engaged: Best Of

Eleni’s on the road this week, but never fear! We’ve got plenty of her thoughts and tips for you to catch up on.

By Lynne Shallcross

Right about now, you’re probably saying to yourself, “It’s Wednesday. Where’s my weekly dose of Eleni?”

Well, work stole all of her time this week. And because that’s the job that pays her in actual dollars, as opposed to comments at the bottom of a blog post, we’ll let her off the hook. Eleni will be back next week—but if you can’t wait that long, we’ve rounded up some of her most insightful and entertaining lines to perk up your Wednesday.

Enjoy!

On wedding etiquette do’s and don’ts:
"Do take a lot of pictures and send them to the bride and groom after the wedding. They’ll appreciate it more than you realize. Don’t be overheard saying something negative about the bride’s dress. Or the flowers, or the food, or the music. Save it for the car ride home."

On her love for Ron:
Reason number 12: "In 2006, Ron and I went to Greece together. He learned several Greek phrases so he could talk to my family in their language, even though they all speak English."

On having a new home for the holidays:
"It was a big change not to be at home in DC for the holiday, but the change wasn’t alarming or nerve-wracking, as change usually is for me. It was different—but different in a good way. Being in Philadelphia with Ron felt like a new home."

On the merits of a day-of wedding planner at her friend Jessica’s wedding:
"This woman really knew what she was doing. She not only looks a little bit like Judge Judy, she’s also no nonsense. She actually shushed me before the ceremony started because I was talking to one of the other bridesmaids (my bad)."
