Lisa Marie: The Big Day Arrives

By the time you read this post, Lisa Marie will be on her way down the aisle!

After a whirlwind week of last-minute details, our wedding day has finally arrived. By the time this post hits the Washingtonian.com Web site, I’ll be in my wedding dress, taking photos with my beautiful bridesmaids, and getting ready to walk down the aisle to marry the man of my dreams.

It’s certainly been a crazy week. Even with 15 months of planning, there were so many things that needed to get finished. The out-of-town bags were delivered (after some minor car troubles), the place cards were created (after five trips to the craft store), and the wedding party arrived (with only a few flight cancellations). We’ve been blessed with the amazing support system of our wedding party and families, but it’s still easy to get overwhelmed. When you spend 15 months planning for a single day, it’s impossible not to get nervous that everything might not go smoothly.

The feelings that have been racing through me are impossible to describe. There’s anxiousness, excitement, nervousness, and a bit of sadness that the planning process is over. Don’t get me wrong, I’m so excited that Andrew and I are getting married. But planning this wedding has become such a huge part of my life, and it’s crazy to think that after one day everything will be completed. Of course, we’re heading to Jamaica to an amazing Sandals resort with a butler, so I’m sure I won’t be too sad when I’m sitting by the pool with my new husband.

So now it’s time to apply the lipstick, slip on my shoes, and head to the church to make it official. Wish me luck . . . it’s finally here!
