Where & When: Bridal Events

By Julyssa Lopez

Thursday, October 8, through Saturday, October 10
Carine’s Bridal Atelier (1726 Wisconsin Ave., NW) will host an Angel Sanchez trunk show, featuring the New York-based designer’s Spring 2010 collection. If you stop by Thursday and Friday, you can receive a 12-percent discount on a Sanchez gown, or 10 percent if you attend the Saturday trunk show.

The store is also launching Bliss, a new bridal line by designer Monique Lhuiller, whose dresses are known for their delicate laces and intricate embellishments. While the dresses in the new line range from $2,300 to $3,500, there’s a 12-percent discount Thursday and Friday and a 10-percent discount on Saturday. Appointments required for both events; call 202-965-469  to schedule one. Open 10 to 6.

Saturday, October 10
At the Great Bridal Expo in Alexandria, there’ll be cosmetic surgeons, dentists, dance instructors, and financial-service representatives. Other exhibitors include Cuisinart, David’s Bridal, American Airlines, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, and JC Penney’s wedding and gift registry. Brides will have a chance to win prizes at every exhibit booth, and a few will win the grand prize: a honeymoon at Sandals, a resort in the Caribbean. The show is at the Hilton Alexandria Market Center (5000 Seminary Rd.) from noon to 4. Tickets can be purchased for $7 online or for $9 at the door. Visit greatbridalexpo.com for more information.

Get a wedding-ready body—and a chance to whip your bridal party into shape—at the Athletes4Life training boot camp. Trainers will assemble an exercise program for you and your bridesmaids that includes an ab workout, core strengthening, and cardio. Time slots are available throughout the day and can be set up by calling 202-297-2111. Training sessions will be held at Stanton Park (Fifth and I sts., NE). $15 per person.

Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11
The designer Precision Set will showcase its entire wedding-band collection at Mervis Diamonds in Tysons Corner (1900 Mervis Way, McLean). There’s a 25-percent discount on pieces bought during the trunk show. On Sunday from noon to 3, a Fall Wedding Fête will bring together jewelers and dresses from Carine’s Bridal Atelier, and there’ll be hors d’oeuvres and Champagne. Click here to RSVP.

Sunday, October 11
Homewood Suites (8320 Benson Dr., Columbia) is holding an intimate bridal show for weddings with less than 100 guests. Vendors—including wedding officiant Sandy Bearden of Weddings by Sandy and photographer Kyle Berger—are budget-friendly. You can also view rooms in the Homewood Suites for immediate booking. 1 to 4; $5. For more information, click here.

Thursday, October 15
Pros Entertainment Service—which offers DJs, videographers, and photographers—is hosting a private showcase at Waterford at Fair Oaks (12025 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy, Fairfax). Following a cheese-and-wine reception, DJs will go on stage to show off their abilities. For tickets, which are free, call 800-843-7767, extension 121. 6:45 to 9.
