Where & When Bridal: What to Do This Weekend

Two high-fashion trunk shows, a South Asian bridal expo, and more.

By Marissa Conrad

Thursday, February 28: Jane Wang Bridal Trunk Show
New York couture designer Jane Wang brings her spring 2008 collection to Rizik’s (1100 Connecticut Ave., NW; 202-223-4050) Thursday through Saturday. Wang, known for her intricate beadwork, will be available to talk to customers on Friday from 11 AM to 2 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM. For an appointment (recommended but not required), call the salon.

Friday, February 29: Judd Waddell Trunk Show
Try on gowns from architecture-student-turned-fashion-star Judd Waddell’s newest collection and talk to the designer himself about custom alterations at Hitched (1523 Wisconsin Ave., NW; 202-333-6162). All dresses bought at the show, which goes through Saturday, will be discounted 10 percent. To make an appointment, call the salon or e-mail appointments@hitchedsalon.com. And bring your bridesmaids—Waddell is pretty cute.

Sunday, March 2: “The Wedding Parties” Registry Event
If your alarm failed to wake you last time (or the time before that), you get one more try: Crate & Barrel (five area locations) is hosting its last (for now) registry event. Walk, drive, or Metro to the nearest C&B to enjoy a continental breakfast while watching demos of registry-worthy appliances. Call the store to RSVP (preferred but not required). Free; 9 to 11 AM.

“Beyond the Invitation: Wedding Event Invites” Workshop

Get ideas for everything you have to mail besides wedding invitations—like save-the-dates and rehearsal-dinner invites—at this three-hour workshop at Georgetown’s Paper Source (3019 M St., NW; 202-298-5545). Register here at least 24 hours in advance. $55; 2 to 5 PM. (And while you’re on the site, check out the March 5 “Wonderful Wedding Album” workshop, which also looks awesome.)

L’Ambiance South Asian Bridal Expo

Head to the Sheraton National Hotel (900 S. Orme St., Arlington; 703-521-1900) to scope out local vendors who specialize in South Asian weddings. Registration is required; call 703-584-7039 or e-mail info@myweddingdecorator.com. Free; 11 AM to 4 PM.

PLAN AHEAD
Thursday, March 6: Macy’s and Martha Stewart Weddings Event
If you’re a Martha girl, get excited: You can score planning tips from Darcy Miller, editorial director of Martha Stewart Weddings, and get cake ideas from Wendy Kromer, who cowrote Martha Stewart’s Wedding Cakes, at Macy’s Tysons Corner (8000 Tysons Corner Center, McLean; 703-893-4900). I have a feeling this one’s going to fill up fast, so register now by calling 703-893-4900, ext. 515. Free; 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
