An upscale clothing store in Georgetown may not be the place you'd normally think of to find some of the area's best artists playing acoustic sets of their work. But change your expectations: Cusp (3030 M Street, NW) is set to do an in-store Sunday acoustic performance every weekend in June with their Summer of Sound Acoustic Festival. Kicking off the festival this Sunday are Brandon Butler and Laura Burhenn, starting at 3 pm. Burhenn is part of Georgie James, who gets a lot of love on this here blog for their jangly, upbeat tunes. Burhenn plays more intimate but no less powerful melodic piano. Butler, who got his start in DC in the 90s, is now churning out wistful, twangy alt-country. So be on sure to head down to Cusp and get both your fashion and music fix for the weekend.

The lovely annual Vintage Virginia Wine Festival takes place this weekend out in Centreville. There, you can taste more than 350 varieties of Virginia wine, and do much more. Why not take a seminar on how to taste wine properly, browse arts and crafts for sale, or listen to a lineup of live performances? Mill amongst the tents, sip your wine, and enjoy the day. A day pass for the festival costs $20; you can also buy a shuttle pass for $16 that will take you to and from the festival hourly from the Vienna Metro station. 11 am to 6 pm. The wine festival is just one of the many activities going on this weekend. For more weekend picks, including a stellar jazz fest, an art raffle, and more, check out Where & When Weekend, our weekend guide to what to do.

It's Memorial Day weekend! Here are some links to entertain you over the weekend, if for some reason you're stuck inside and not enjoying the glorious weather. In fact, After Hours is leaving on a bit of a vacation today and will return on Tuesday, May 29.
Fort Reno, the fantastic summer concert series, has released the line up of their first show on June 18. It includes local rockers Mass Movement of the Moth, Deleted Scenes (a personal fave), and Boom Orangutans. The full schedule will be up soon. If you've never been to a Fort Reno show before, do yourself a favor and head up to Chesapeake Street and Nebraska Avenue, NW, with a blanket, and take in a show this summer.
Project Beltway has a post from the Taste of the South up that's stirring up some controversy in the comments. What do you think of this "modern take on the hoop dress"?
Want to see some stand-up comedy for free—and get filmed on an HBO special to boot? Dave Attell and D.L. Hughley are each taping HBO specials at the Lincoln Theater next weekend, and DC Metblogs has the scoop on how you can go. If you need some great tunes to be your soundtrack to the holiday weekend, head over to the fantastic internet radio station, WOXY. (Seriously. They're fantastic. I wouldn't be able to make it through a day at work without them in the background.) They're doing their 18th Annual Modern Rock 500, which counts down the "500 greatest songs in the history of modern rock." The music gets started at 10 am tomorrow, so tune in.

Date Nights gives you great ideas for what to do when out on the town with that special someone. Got a Date Night idea? Email candrews AT washingtonian DOT com.
Quirky dates can be fun, but sometimes it’s the classic that can lead to a really great night. Head out for a classic dinner-and-a-movie date in Silver Spring, with a bit of sweet dessert at the end of it all.

Travis Morrison guest DJs at Bliss at the Black Cat on Saturday.
Saturday, May 26: Travis Morrison was not only the front man for one of the most popular bands to come out of DC, it turns out he’s also got some skills as a DJ. The former singer for the Dismemberment Plan (read my interview with him here) spins tonight at the Black Cat for the Bliss dance night. Last time he was there, he apparently tore up the floor with a unique blend of hip hop, funk, and rock. $6, backstage. 9 pm. Travis and his DJ skills aren't the only thing going on this Memorial Day weekend. Check out the supersized picks for events, going on through Monday, like a strawberry festival, a jazz festival, two great local bands playing for charity, and more in Where & When Weekend.
