Monday, January 31
Get an insider’s look at the Gray Lady at the National Press Club, where Marvin Kalb is moderating “All the News That’s Fit to Print: Behind the Scenes at the New York Times.” Executive Editor Bill Keller and Washington bureau chief Dean Baquet talk about what goes on at the venerated newspaper. 8 PM.

Tuesday, February 1
Michael Scheuer, the first head of the CIA’s bin Laden unit, is discussing and signing copies of his new book, Osama bin Laden, at Politics and Prose. 7 PM.

Wednesday, February 2
Take your lunch break at the Department of the Interior’s (1849 C St., NW) Rachel Carson Room, where there’s a discussion of activist Mary McLeod Bethune’s contributions and leadership. 1 to 2.

Thursday, February 3
Ruba Nadda’s 2009 film Cairo Time plays at the National Museum of African Art. Part of the museum’s North African Film Festival, the romantic drama screens at 7. The director will be in attendance to answer questions about the film.

Friday, February 4
The Torpedo Factory Art Center is hosting a free screening of Beyond Borders, a documentary that looks at both legal and illegal immigration. The film is followed by a panel discussion, led by executive producer Simon Burrow. 7 PM.

Saturday, February 5
“Treasures From the Heart,” a Valentine’s Day-themed exhibit and art sale, opens at the Arlington Arts Gallery (5179 Lee Hwy., Arlington) this week. The artists, all local, will be at the opening reception from 5 to 8.

Sunday, February 6
Need an antidote to Super Bowl mania? Check out the Ariel String Quartet at the National Gallery of Art. The group is performing works by Beethoven. 6:30.
