Tickets to the Virgin Mobile FreeFest, as you might have surmised from its name, are initially free. Those tickets were snapped up quickly, though a limited number of “freemium” packages—$49.50 for admission plus a T-shirt and free sodas all day—remain. But in case you subscribe to the Goldilocks school of thought, there’s now a middle-ground option: Virgin Mobile has released 1,000 special “karma” tickets, available today only on a first come, first served basis. The $20 tickets are available at the Merriweather Post Pavilion south box office and the 9:30 Club box office from noon to 6, or until they run out. Tickets are limited to two per person, and proceeds benefit the Re*Generation House, a DC shelter for homeless youth built thanks to donations from prior FreeFest events.
This year’s FreeFest happens Saturday, October 6, and includes acts such as Trampled by Turtles, Ben Folds Five, Santigold, and the Dismemberment Plan, as well as headliners Jack White and Skrillex. For more information and the full lineup, visit the festival’s website.
