Where & When: What to Do Tonight

Local bands, enough rum to drown in, and an end-of-summer concert

The 9:30 Club is hosting the Washington Area Music Association’s New Artist of the Year, Hotspur. The five-member group just released its second album, You Should Know Better by Now. The band will be joined by the Northern Virginia-based groups Crash Boom Bang, Rustbelt City, and Sing Me Insomnia as well as the Narrative from New York. Click here for tickets ($15); 6:30.

Join Café Atlántico for its third annual celebration of rum, which runs through Sunday. A free rum tasting tonight includes samples from producers such as Rhum Barbancourt. Enjoy a four-course rum-inspired menu for $55, including rum-glazed short ribs and rum cake, and a special drink menu. The tasting is from 4 to 6.

Summer’s not over as long as the music’s playing. Enjoy rock, pop, and a little Motown at Gaithersburg’s Rio Summer Concert Series. Baltimore’s Quest plays this week. 6 to 9; free.
