Monday, April 6
Bob and Fred Luskin of downtown DC's Bell Wine discuss the best wines for Easter dinner at the L Street location of Borders at 6:30.

Tuesday, April 7
Chefs José Andrés (Oyamel, Café Atlantico) and Wylie Dufresne (WD-50 in New York) discuss the emergence of Spanish vanguard cuisine and its influence on the culinary world in the American History Museum’s Carmichael auditorium. Vanguard cuisine, also called molecular gastronomy, uses innovative techniques and sciences in the preparation and delivery of food. Admittance is free and on a first come, first served basis. Doors open at 6:30; the lecture starts at 7.

Wednesday, April 8
The Library of Congress screens Lady Be Good: Instrumental Women in Jazz at 7 in its Pickford Theater. The 2007 documentary focuses on American female instrumentalists and the development of all-women groups from the early part of the 20th century to the 1970s.

Thursday, April 9
The National Geographic Society’s Rhythm Road concert series presents the jazz and blues of the Ryan Cohan Quartet at 6 followed by the traditional Appalachian rhythms of the Hoppin’ John String Band at 7:15.

Friday, April 10
Jonathan Goldstein, a contributing editor for This American Life, will read from Ladies and Gentleman, The Bible! at Politics and Prose at 7. Goldstein’s book is a humorous reimagining of Old Testament heroes that aims to show the true motivations behind their actions.

Saturday, April 11
Award-winning jazz vocalist Julia Keefe will perform the swing-era classics of singer Mildred Bailey at the American Indian Museum’s Rasmuson Theater. The performance, part of Jazz Appreciation Month, begins at 2 and repeats at 4.

Sunday, April 12
Busboys and Poets screens director Steven Greenstreet’s Killer At Large at 8. The 2009 documentary explores the national epidemic of obesity through biology, sociology, psychology, and politics. The director will be on hand afterwards for a Q&A.
