Salon senior writer Rebecca Traister is signing copies of her lauded book, Big Girls Don’t Cry: The Election That Changed Everything for American Women at Politics and Prose. Traister discusses the women of the 2008 election from Katie Couric to Michelle Obama to Tina Fey, getting beyond the question of why women didn’t rally around Hillary Clinton’s bid for the presidency. The signing is free, and the book is available for $26. 7 PM.

Sonic Circuits, a Washington-based promoter of experimental music, presents a showcase at the Mansion at Strathmore. Tonight’s performers include Trophies, a trance band, and the Lost Civilization, which performs improvised, unscored, and unreherased music. 8 PM. Tickets ($10) are available here.
