Where & When: What to Do Tonight

Vintage music and theater and art that’s gone to the dogs

From the prettiest pooch to the ugliest mutt, dogs of all kinds are immortalized in the exhibit “Every Dog Has Its Day: Celebrating Our Canine Companions” at VSA ARTiculate Gallery. Tonight’s opening reception includes live music, refreshments, and local pet vendors on hand with tips and products. 5:30; free.

Learn to lindy-hop or show off your swing skills with the vintage jazz band Blue Sky 5 at the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Kogod Courtyard. The group plays everything from Nat King Cole to Duke Ellington to Fats Waller. 5 to 7; free.

It’s the last week to take part in Thirsty Thursdays at the Scena Theatre (formerly the H Street Playhouse). Catch a stage performance of the Orson Wells radio play The War of the Worlds while enjoying complimentary food, beer, and wine. 8 PM. Purchase tickets ($18 to $25) here.
