A shop with a short shelf life and a couple of dance parties

The pop-up shop Mt. Pleasant Temporium (3068 Mount Pleasant St., NW), part of the Temporary Urbanism initiative, is selling handmade goods by 30 local artists. The shop, in business through March 12, will host special events such as storytelling sessions, live music, and craft-making. For a complete schedule, visit the Temporium’s Web site. Open Monday through Friday 2 to 7, Saturday and Sunday 11 to 6.

DJ Dredd’s dance party, Close to the Edge, features vintage hip-hip and dance tunes. At the Black Cat; 9:30. The cover is $7.

The Mansion at Strathmore is throwing a party with Friday Night Electric featuring Incwell. The DJ’s sound is influenced by the likes of Al Green and Janis Joplin. From 8 to 9, loosen up with $2 PBRs. Get tickets ($10) at Strathmore’s site or at the door ($12).
