MOVIE: It’s seemingly always in danger of not returning, so the first Screen on the Green of each year is always a welcome sight. Comcast and HBO will bring four classic movies to the Mall through mid-August. The first film hitting the massive 20-by-40-foot stage is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. With all the construction, the Mall isn’t in tip-top shape right now, so make sure you bring something to sit on. As always, the movie will get started at dusk, and it’s completely free.

SPORTS (KINDA): We’ve seen them try to run America—now find out whether congressmen, local politicians, and other local celebs are any better at playing tennis. The Kastles Charity Classic will pit players on both sides of the political divide against one another. Our money’s on the team that gets DC United head coach Ben Olsen. Tickets ($10) are available online. 7 PM.
Wednesday, July 18
PERFORM: Busboys and Poets’ storytelling contest returns Wednesday, so if you’ve got a funny, sad, or gross story about art and the chops to tell it in an interesting way, now’s your chance to impress everyone. If you just like hearing weird things about uncomfortable performance-art pieces, we bet you won’t be disappointed sitting in the audience. The winner takes home $100. Tickets ($10) are available online. 9 PM.

SPLASH: You tried Screen on the Green, now how about screen in the blue? Capitol Skyline’s pool will host a “dive in” movie showing of Anchorman. There will also be Anchorman trivia, so no splashing while the movie’s playing, I’m trying to study up, here. Bonus points if you come in costume. Admission is $10 in advance or $12 at the door, including one drink ticket. Doors open at 7 PM.
