HALLOWEEN: Yeah, the temperature lately has made it feel like August, but last I checked, the
calendar still says October. That means all Halloween-themed things are fair game.

Comet Ping Pong is starting its double feature Mondays: Starting at 9 PM, the restaurant will screen
two Halloween movies. Some will be scary; others will be classics like
The Berenstain Bears or the Great Pumpkin
Charlie Brown special. You won’t know ’til you show up. PBRs are $2 all night, Jim Beam and Hopquila
shots are $4, seasonal drafts such as Bells Best Brown and Founders All Day IPA are
$6, and the candy, thankfully, is free. Free. 9 PM.

Tuesday, October 8

STORYTELLING: We can’t all think up ultra-targeted BuzzFeed articles that spread like wildfire
on Facebook. But we’ve all told a story that quickly ran through our friend groups,
high schools, or towns.
Speakeasy DC, one of the city’s best storytelling nights, explores Viral Stories this week at
Town Danceboutique. $15. 6:30 PM.

COMEDY: If you kinda like the idea of storytelling but want to keep things light (sometimes
those stories can get pretty sad/traumatizing),
Wonderland Ballroom is hosting Shtick, a night of Jewish comedy. Seven local Jewish comedians will take
the stage, with proceeds benefiting Jewish Women International. $10 minimum donation
online or at the door. 7:30 PM.

Wednesday, October 9

CRAFT: Even if you don’t feel arty, we bet you’ve got some hidden talent. Let it out at
the
Renwick Gallery’s Handi-Hour, where you can check out a newly opened exhibit about American basket-weaving.
Inspired by that, learn to make your own with their experts as you sip craft beers
selected by ChurchKey’s Greg Engert and listen to live music. Admission includes two
drink tickets, snacks, and all materials necessary to start crafting. Tickets ($20)
are available online. 5:30 to 8 PM.

Thursday, October 10

DRINK: Join the staff of
Washingtonian at the Powerhouse to sample top-shelf and craft whiskeys, vodkas, gins, and more
at
On the Rocks, our annual whiskey and fine spirits festival. Distilleries include BullDog Gin,
Catoctin Creek Distilling Company, Don Ciccio & Figli, Green Hat Gin, Smooth Ambler,
WhistlePig Rye, and lots more. Spilled Milk catering will provide food to keep you
going, and there’ll be a live band. Tickets ($65) are available online. 7 PM.
