The Ethics and Public Policy Center wraps up its summer film series at the Hudson Institute with The Pursuit of Happyness. The Will Smith vehicle tells the true story of a sometimes homeless man who scales the ranks of a prestigious brokerage firm. Head to Strathmore for a free outdoor concert by the African fusion band Elikeh. The group melds traditional Togo rhythms with Afrofunk of the ’70s for a unique and stirring sound. The performance begins at 7, but arrive early for a free mini street festival featuring a mime, clown, and juggler. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Long View Gallery hosts the opening reception for the exhibit “Tony Savoie: New Work.” Perhaps in a nod to current world events, war and morality are common themes in Savoie’s brightly colored multimedia pieces. The images, says Savoie, reflect an attempt to “balance anger and apathy with humor and horror.” Free; 6:30 to 8:30.
