15 More Mother’s Day Brunches For Your Consideration
Seafood-laden buffets, “perfect” eggs, and hangover specials—there’s a celebratory meal for every sort of mom this year. Just be sure to book early.
To follow up on the 14 Mother’s Day brunches we pointed out last week, here are 15 more options around town. Need we remind you again that they fill up fast? Okay, then, they fill up fast! Get booking, offspring.
Bibiana | Menu
$45 for adults, $23 for kids
Starters at this Italian eatery’s three-course brunch include saffron-rice arancini and asparagus with hen egg and pecorino. Among the main dishes are poached sea bass and tomato-and-cheese ravioli.
Brabo by Robert Wiedmaier
$55 for adults and $15 for kids. Unlimited mimosas for $10.
Robert Wiedmaier’s Old Town Alexandria spot will serve a brunch buffet with unlimited mimosas available for $10 extra. At the Butcher’s Block, meanwhile, there will be a sparkling wine tasting from 1 to 4 and special pastries in honor of the holiday.
Though Brasserie Beck’s Mother’s Day specials aren’t yet hammered out, the regular midmorning menu will be available. Count on Chef Wiedmaier’s signature array of mussel preparations, along with several egg and lunch options.
Cafe du Parc | Menu
$44 per person
Cafe du Parc in the Willard InterContinental will keep it simple on Mother’s Day. On offer will be three courses—two choices for each—and options will include a leek-and-Roquefort quiche to start and a chocolate brownie with cherry sorbet to finish. For the main event, we like the sound of fried squash blossom with ratatouille and a “perfect egg.” (Perfect? Mom will be the judge of that.)
Central will enhance its standard lunch menu with breakfast dishes—eggs Benedict, brioche French toast—that Mom could totally re-create at home, if only she weren’t so darn busy. Service will run from noon to 2:30, so you don’t even have to get up early to partake.
Cork Wine Bar | Menu
Though Cork won’t offer a special Mother’s Day menu, the communal nature of its standard brunch is great for the close-knit family. Everything—pastries, cheese, salads, and heartier options—is made for sharing, and there are several mimosa options on the cocktail list in case all that closeness inspires an urge to take the edge off.
Et Voila! | Menu
This Belgian neighborhood spot will open early on Mother’s Day (9 AM instead of 11) for early risers and is serving its standard brunch menu along with both savory and sweet crepe specials between 9 and 4.
Fairmont Hotel Georgetown
$95 per person
The Colonnade and Juniper Restaurant at the Fairmont in Georgetown will both offer a $95 buffet that includes a massive seafood display, an eggs Benedict station, and unlimited Champagne. Free valet parking is sure to show the woman who changed your diapers just how far you’ve come.
L’auberge Chez Francois
$65-$79 per person
If a winding drive out to Great Falls would suit your mama’s fancy, make a reservation now for one of L’auberge’s two afternoon seatings (noon and 3). It will offer a six-course holiday menu that will include mushroom-and-chive crepes, fresh Dover sole sautéed with lobster and tomato, and grilled rack of lamb, among tons of other options.
$80 per person
Maybe your mom got you out of a bind this year. Or maybe you got married and she made all the arrangements. Or perhaps you’ve just realized how great she is, and this is the time for a big thank you. If so, consider making a reservation at Marcel’s. The three-course, prix-fixe menu will include Belgian-beer-battered soft-shell crab with spicy chili reduction, rack of lamb with mint brioche crust, and strawberry soufflé to finish. Service will run 11:30 to 4:30, and reservations (202-296-1166) are required.
Mintwood Place | Menu
The recently opened Mintwood Place will offer its newly implemented regular brunch from 10:30 until 3 on Mother’s Day. For Mom, there’s eggs Benedict, flammekueche—tarte flambée—and a fish plate with trout, coho salmon, scallops, mussels, tuna, and brioche toast. For your party-animal little brother, there’s the hangover special. Let’s just hope he actually shows up in time to eat it.
Montmartre | Menu
From 10:30 until 3 on Mother’s Day, this small French restaurant near Eastern Market will serve its standard brunch menu. Classic French offerings like quiche Lorraine and various crepes fill a long menu that’s rounded out by locally inspired items such as blue crab bisque.
$60 prix fixe (à-la-carte menu also available)
Head to Ris for an à-la-carte brunch from 10 to 3 that includes bottomless mimosas in seasonal flavors for $18. Beginning at noon, the restaurant will also offer a three-course menu of soft-shell crab, rack of lamb, and strawberry shortcake for $60. Whichever option you choose, the restaurant will send your mom home with a pressed flower.
Trummer’s on Main | Menu
$64 for adults, $25 for kids
Trummer’s on Main is equal parts fine dining and laid-back country ambience. On Mother’s Day, it will bring those things together for your mom, offering a three course menu including a Maryland crabcake, shrimp and grits, and rhubarb shortcake. And don’t forget to try the elaborate grape-vodka-based cocktail, the Titanic.
Virtue Feed and Grain | Menu
EatGoodFood Group’s locally sourced comfort food spot will serve moms its standard brunch menu plus a few specials. Those will include Virginia asparagus eggs Benedict, fried chicken and biscuits, and crispy soft-shell crab with ramps and hollandaise sauce.
