A commenter on yesterday's burger face-off between Matchbox and Union Street Public House quipped, "If a pizza place wins a burger contest, baby Jesus cries." Well, we don't know if they'll win, but Matchbox slid on easily to the second round. See ya, Union Street!

Billy Martin’s Tavern and Nathans, two longtime Georgetown favorites, went head-to-head in our last burger face-off. The winner? Martin's, though not by a wide margin. Nathans pulled in a respectable 49 percent of the votes, compared to Martin's 51 percent.

Our first Burger Bracket. Our second bracket will debut next week.

Yesterday, in our first-ever Burger Bracket face-off, Westend Bistro lost in a decisive match to Central, with Central garnering 61% of the vote. Now, we're going back to basics with two classic burger chains: Fuddruckers vs. Five Guys.

Well, Charlie Palmer Steak put in a noble effort in yesterday's Burger Brackets...sort of. Actually, they pretty much got crushed by BLT Steak's burger, 75 percent to 25 percent. So BLT advances to the next round. Congrats!

Today's 2 PM burger face-off pits a Tenleytown burger-and-shake joint against the little sister to Arlington's Ray's the Steaks.
