It’s the first day of DC’s summer Restaurant Week (see our menu guide here), when lots of the city’s eateries have special three-course lunch ($20.09) and/or dinner ($35.09) menus—a chance to try some of the best restaurants in town for a fraction of the price. Some places allow diners to choose from their regular menu, while others offer a paltry list of choices with the only attractive dishes bearing a surcharge.
Our food and wine editor, Todd Kliman, gave you his picks for Restaurant Week, and now we want you to weigh in on your experiences. Where did you score a great deal, and where did you feel ripped off? Which restaurants were generous with portions and menu offerings, and which ones skimped? Did your meal feel relaxed or rushed? August 27 Restaurant Week updates:
emilyromans: Is it possible that I"m still full from last night's dinner at Il Mulino? Try the tilapia folks, you'll thank me later.
tutakalaka: Lunch at PS7 good, but service not great. Sarah's Salad, Short Ribs & Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar a steal at $20.09 ($34 regularly).
ranagan: Oyamel's seared scallops with pepita sauce ... So effing amazing.
BeccaClaraLove: Dinner at PS7's tonight. Let's hope it's better than DC Coast, which was not as amazing as expected. Yeah, I said that.
LPags03: Ugh - hate being rushed. 3 courses in under an hour at hook. Food just okay.
ShanonDMurray: Dinner @ Potenza. Had Polpettine d'Agnello then Cod al Forno & Chocolate-Hazelnut Semi Freddo for dessert. Dessert was the star.
tstemann: Ate at Vidalia last night for restaurant week...everything was good, but the grilled baby octopus was the highlight for me
August 26 Restaurant Week updates:
Lauraroose: Thumbs up for large group dinner at McCormick & Schmicks. Great selection: ribeye, lobster, salmon, crab etc and pleasant service
ShanonDMurray: Recommend lunch at Chef Geoff's. Restaurant Wk applies to entire menu. Had the Fattoush Salad, Seared Tuna & Mocha cheesecake. Yum!
ElyssaK: Trout at Art and Soul was excellent. I like how they just kind of layer all the pieces of the dish on top of each other. Different.
