Table to Table

Raise your glass to 2009, find a brunch to soothe that hangover, and make good on your resolution to eat better in the new year.

Monday, December 28
Looking to wash away your case of the Mondays? Head to Iota Club & Café for live music and half-price bottles and glasses of wine from the cafe’s 19 selections from 5 to 10. There’s no cover to enter the cafe (where we’re told you can hear the music from the club’s stage). If you feel like getting closer to the action, the Neighbors will play at 8, and tickets cost $12.

Tuesday, December 29
’Tis the season to not count calories, so learn chocolate’s subtle differences at ACKC’s Chocolate Tasting Class, $35 per person, from 6:30 to 8:30. Participants will sample a variety of chocolates from around the world and learn about their production and history. For reservations and more information, call 202-387-2626.

Wednesday, December 30
Face it: You know you’re going to watch the inaugural episode of the The Real World: DC. Why not make snide remarks about the cast at a bar with drink specials? Reality-TV enthusiasts should head to BlackFinn American Saloon for Metromix’s Real World Viewing Party starting at 8. There’ll be $5 house wines, $3 Coors bottles, and no cover charge. To reserve your spot, click here.

Thursday, December 31
New Year’s Eve can do a number on your wallet. For a more budget-friendly night, consider CommonWealth’s three-course dinner for $45 per person, featuring chef Abigail Fellows’s crabcakes, among other dishes. Those dining late should come in costume, because starting at 9, the gastropub is hosting a free “vicars and tarts” party with a prize for the best costume.

Friday, January 1
Have a good New Year’s Eve? Maybe too good? We’ve rounded up the best spots around town to grab brunch and soothe that January 1 hangover here.

Saturday, January 2
Those who didn’t raise their elbows enough ringing in the new year can go to Bell Wine and Spirits’ (1821 M St., NW) free tasting from noon to three. A weekly event since 1973, the tasting typically features nine new varietals that arrive new to the store each week as well as one “mystery wine.”

Sunday, January 3
Make good on that New Year’s resolution to eat better by perusing the Montgomery Farm Women’s Cooperative Market (7155 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda) from 7 to 4. Vendors sell fresh produce, bread, cheeses, and more at one of the oldest markets in Washington.
