Where to Find Christmas Day Brunch and Dinner Around DC

Many restaurants are closed for Christmas Day, though a variety remain open for the holiday and serve indulgent feasts, festive buffet-style spreads, or casual a la carte meals for celebrating with the family.

Blue Duck Tavern

1201 24th St., NW

Christmas guests in the elegant Park Hyatt restaurant will start and end their meal with buffet-style spreads of savories and sweets, and order a plated entree and sides from the menu in between. Expect festive dishes such as cider-glazed ham and roast goose. The restaurant also offers Christmas meals to-go for those who want to celebrate at home.

Details: $110 per person, $55 for children ages six to 12; free for children under six.

Cafe Berlin

322 Massachusetts Ave, NE

This cozy Capitol Hill eatery serves Christmas goose and other selections from their German specialty menu at 2, 4:30 and 7 pm. Coffee and tea are included in the three-course meal.

Details: $39 per person for the regular menu; $45 for the wild game option.

Corduroy

Chef Tom Powers’s Shaw restaurant serves a three-course holiday dinner, incorporating traditional elements of a Christmas feast such as roast turkey and a pumpkin tart for dessert.

Decanter

The St. Regis hotel’s elegant dining room celebrates the holiday with a three-course Christmas menu. Guests can choose between steak, lamb, and lobster entrees, and indulge in pistachio cake, cinnamon ice cream, or chocolate whiskey mousse for dessert.

Grill Room at the Capella

Chef Frank Ruta learned to cook from his mother and grandmother. On Christmas, he brings their lessons to life in a family-style brunch buffet inspired by his own childhood. Guests can also opt for an a la carte dinner and a “rye bar” serving up holiday inspired cocktails.

Details: $65 per person for the buffet; $65-$125 for the dinner.

The Grille at Morrison House

The Grille in Old Town’s Federalist-style hotel serves a luxe Christmas brunch with beignets, brioche, and bison steak (not to mention complimentary champagne).

Hay Adams

800 16th St., NW

Take in panoramic views of the White House and National Mall during the Hay Adams’s Christmas Day feast. The dining room at the top of the Italian Renaissance-style hotel serves a holiday buffet at 11 am and again at 4. Don’t skip the dessert spread from pasty chef Josh Short, which includes creative sweets like coconut cream snowflakes.

Pinea

The W Hotel’s Italian restaurant serves its regular dinner menu from 2 to 8 pm on Christmas, as well as a special menu of holiday classics like glazed chestnuts and roasted duck.

Chef Ralf Schlegel’s creates an indulgent holiday menu featuring seared foie gras medallion and brown butter brioche. Reasons to save room for dessert: lemon ice cream, Ocoa chocolate custard or a cocoa nib, peanut butter caramel Speculoos and more.

Rural Society

Restaurateur Jose Garces’s steakhouse in the Loews Madison hotel serves its regular brunch menu until 2:30 pm. At 5 pm the restaurant opens for a three-course tapas dinner with Argentine Christmas specialties like spinach empanadas and chorizo con queso.

186 Waterfront St., Oxon Hill, MD (National Harbor)

Chef Edward Lee’s new National Harbor spot serves Christmas brunch and dinner, mixing Southern and Asian influences. Groups of six or more can indulge in the “Taste of the South” menu, with dishes like smoked wings, crispy green tomatoes, and “dirty” fried chicken.

Teddy & the Bully Bar

Get in the presidential spirit at restaurateur Alan Popovsky’s culinary tribute to Theodore Roosevelt. A buffet spread includes roast turkey, ham, salmon with a la carte appetizer and dessert options.
