Pre-theater kids’ menu at Marcel’s

2401 Pennsylvania Ave., NW

One of the more formal restaurants in the city doesn’t necessarily scream “kids’ menu,” but Marcel’s is opening its doors to youngsters from 5 to 7 with a special pre-theater lineup for children during The Lion King’s tenure at the Kennedy Center (through August 17). While parents can enjoy the regular early prix-fixe, kids under 12 can order from a $36 set menu that includes grilled cheese sliders with tomato dipping sauce, petite filet, and vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. There’s even a kiddie “cubtail”: tropical fruit punch.

Belvedere happy hour at STK

1250 Connecticut Ave., NW

“Not Your Daddy’s Steakhouse” is apparently also “not your rail-vodka steakhouse.” The Dupont spot launches happy hour this week with Belvedere vodka cocktails for $7, alongside glasses of Prosecco and wine for the same price. The deal runs Monday through Friday from 4 to 7.

DC Brau resumes growler hours

3178 Bladensburg Rd., NE

Missing that growler of DC Brau Public Ale in your fridge? Now you can finally refill as the brewery resumes “growler hours” on Saturday from 1 to 5, as well as free tours and tastings at 2, 3, and 4. You’ll find pours of the Citizen, the Corruption, Solidarity Summer Ale, and more, alongside eats from Red Apron.

Jack Rose launches rooftop tiki time

2007 18th St., NW

Grab a tropical drink and some island-inspired fare at Jack Rose starting on Thursday, when the Adams Morgan spot debuts a tiki bar open Thursday through Saturday all summer long. Fresh fruit juice drinks include Singapore slings, “rye tais,” and orange crushes, which you can sip for half off ($6) during a special happy hour on Thursday from 5 to 10. Also discounted: $2 off drafts, and beachy dishes such as grilled shrimp tacos, Polynesian pork belly skewers, and jalapeño hushpuppies.

Granville Moore’s starts beer tastings

1238 H St., NE

Professional intoxicator” Matt LeBarron leads summer-long Belgian craft beer tastings on Tuesday in the upstairs bar. The one-hour courses start at 6:30 and 8:30, are limited to eight guests, and require reservations ($25 per person). Each week focuses on a different theme, from Trappist breweries to sour beers.

New happy hour eats at Al Dente

3201 New Mexico Ave., NW

Early birds can get a meal on the cheap in the bar area, which serves a new happy hour food menu with dishes like seafood pasta and chicken scaloppine for $11, in addition to the regular half-price pizzas and drink specials. The deal runs Monday through Friday 4 to 6.
