Monday, September 15
Still giddy about the Redskins’ comeback win over the Saints yesterday? Morton’s the Steakhouse (11956 Market St., Reston; 703-796-0128) is hosting a meet-and-greet with players just in time for Monday Night Football. The event is open to all ages, so come get an autograph or congratulate the players on their thrilling victory. The reception runs from 7 to 8 PM, but starting at 6:30, the steakhouse will serve complimentary filet-mignon sandwiches and chicken goujonettes.

Cinco de Ceiba—a celebration of the five-year anniversary of the Nuevo Latino restaurant (701 14th St., NW)—features daily food specials plus $5 mojitos and margaritas. Old Town’s Jackson 20 (480 King St., Alexandria) is celebrating the annual Kentucky Bourbon Festival with a bourbon-and-boar dinner. The six-course feast pairs classic bourbon cocktails with boar dishes created by chef Jeff Armstrong (a bourbon-and-port julep, for example, will go with a roast boar’s leg in mustard-caper sauce). Friday, September 19, through Sunday, September 21

Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church (4115 16th St., NW) is hosting the area’s largest and oldest Greek festival. In anticipation of up to 5,000 guests, the three-acre festival will serve classic renditions of Greek dishes such as spanakopita, baklava, and diples (deep-fried pastries with honey). Dishes range from $2 to $10. The festival also offers Greek coffee, beer, wine, and live music. Friday and Saturday noon to 9:30, Sunday noon to 8. Call 202-829-2910 for additional information.

Hungry? No, really hungry? If so, you might be interested in the eight-course “head-to-tail pig roast” chef Nick Stefanell is cooking at Mio (1110 Vermont Ave., NW). No part of the animal will go to waste, and the feast will include sausage, braised belly, headcheese, rillettes, and roasted loin. EcoFriendly Foods, which supplied the pig, will have Bev Eggleston on hand to tell the story behind the meal. Dinner starts at 7 and is $80 per person. Call 202-955-0075 for reservations.

For chocolate lovers looking for something different, Rosa Mexicano (575 Seventh St., NW) is hosting a chocolate cooking demonstration followed by a four-course, chocolate-themed lunch. Chef James Muir will prepare miniature chicken empanadas with mole sauce; mixed-green salad with kohlrabi, apples, and vanilla-chocolate-orange dressing; baked shrimp with fall vegetables in a spicy chocolate sauce; and Oaxacan-style chocolate flan. Looking to escape the city? Consider the 13th annual Great Grape Wine Festival at Tarara Winery (13648 Tarara La., Leesburg).
