Monday, July 27
Bethesda/Chevy Chase Restaurant Week kicks off today. Enjoy two-course lunches for $12 to $15 and three-course dinners for $25 to $30 at more than 30 neighborhood spots. For a complete list of restaurants taking part, click here.

Tuesday, July 28
Chef Geoff’s caters to the fresh-from-college crowd with a Magic Hat beer tasting tonight at 7. Brews such as #9, Wacko, and others will be paired with appetizers in this cocktail-style event, which is slated to host up to 100 people. Tickets, available here, are $29 per person, including tax and gratuity.

Wednesday, July 29
Happy-hour deals at two Georgetown Thai restaurants make this the night to eat Asian. Head to Bangkok Joe’s for complimentary wonton sticks with purchase of one happy-hour drink (with half-priced Red Bull mixers). Or make your way to Bangkok Bistro for $1 sushi and $2 drinks. Learn about the future of food and healthy, sustainable ingredients at the Letelier Theater’s (3251 Prospect St., NW) screening of 2009 documentary Fresh. Interview subjects include Polyface Farm’s Joel Salatin, who is featured in The Omnivore’s Dilemma, and Will Allen, who received a 2008 McArthur Genius award for his work in the farm industry. The Union Street Public House in Old Town hosts its first Great Grill Out. Starting at 7, chef Michael Soper will send out portions of breads and salsa, hangar steak, lobster tail, sea scallops, fresh veggies, and pound cake, all cooked over an open flame. Friday, July 31
Arlington Cinema ’N’ Drafthouse offers the perfect solution to the cheap-date conundrum with Wine Night at the Movies. Starting at 6:15 every Friday, customers can purchase $1 sampling tickets (each good for a one-ounce wine pour) and talk to Washington Wine Academy experts, then stay on for a $5.50 movie (selection to be announced). Saturday, August 1
Silver Spring’s Adega Wine Cellars & Cafe (8519 Fenton St.) offers another wallet-friendly evening-for-two option with its impressively cheap weekend special: an appetizer, two entrées, and a bottle of wine for $35. Call 301-608-2200 for reservations.

Sunday, August 2
Curry fans can get their fill all weekend at the sixth annual Asian Food and Tennis Festival (11452 Baron Cameron Ave., Reston), which spotlights India. Thirty local restaurants will offer authentic dishes, many of which can’t be found on regular menus. A multi-cultural marketplace promises to be packed full of Eastern imports.
