Escape the city with historic Leesburg’s town-wide First Friday event, where more than 35 specialty shops, galleries, and restaurants offer special demonstrations, live music, and free refreshments. Hit the Pink Shop (109 S. King St.) to hear guitarist Don Chapman and sample wine from Village Winery, then continue winetasting at Leesburg Vintner (29 S. King St.) and Otter Creek (10 S. King St.). Flow Yoga (third floor of Market Station) is throwing a free-beer-and-yoga happy hour, and you can sing along to “beer-drinking shanty songs” at Döner Bistro (202 Harrison St., SE). Start the long weekend off right at Old Ebbitt Grill’s first annual block party. Tickets—$75 when purchased online, $85 at the door—get you five food and five beverage vouchers, but if you bring a canned food item, you’ll get another free drink ticket. Fare for the evening includes burgers, crabcake sandwiches, and mixed-berry shortcake plus beer, wine, and frozen cocktails.
