In conjunction with the sixth annual La Tomatina Festival, Jaleo chefs will be at both the Penn Quarter (400 block of Eighth St., NW) and Bethesda farmers markets (Bethesda Ln. bet. Elm St. and Bethesda Ave.) to demonstrate the restaurant’s gazpacho. Both free presentations will begin at 5.
The Embassy Row Hilton hosts TasteDC’s “Intro to the Wines of Bordeaux” class, where you can sample vino from both the left and right banks of this famed French valley. The class, which runs from 7 to 9, costs $59 dollars per person. Click here to reserve.

Head to Sandy Point State Park for Maryland’s three-day Seafood Festival, where a $10 general admission ticket grants you access to live music, arts-and-crafts tents, crab-eating contests, beer and wine tastings, and cooking demonstrations. One highlight: Saturday’s crab soup cook-off ($8), where samples from over 30 area restaurants await your judgement. Chef demos, tasting samples, and a wine tent make Penn Quarter’s Arts on Foot Festival a popular choice for Washington foodies this Saturday. Events are spread throughout the day (and the neighborhood), but you’ll be sure to find us at Minibar’s 4:20 demonstration, Sei’s sampling table in the restaurant court, and at Sweetgreen’s Sweetflow yogurt truck. Sunday September 13
The DC Street Performance festival, put on by the Kennedy Center and the French-American Cultural Foundation comes to an end with a brunch and garden party at the French Embassy (4101 Reservoir Rd., NW). Over 40 performances—including acrobats, jugglers, comedians, and more—will be sprinkled throughout the gardens. Crepes, quiches, mimosas, candied apples and other French dishes are on the menu at the terrace-style cafe. The party, which runs from 11 to 8, costs $5 (food and drinks will be available for purchase). Tickets are available here.
