Monday, August 30
Lyon Hall is putting together a five-course farm dinner with tomatoes from four local producers. To reserve a seat for the event, which is cosponsored by the Fresh Link and starts at 7, e-mail lyonhallfarmdinners@gmail.com. $75 plus tax and gratuity. *This event has been rescheduled for September 13.

Tuesday, August 31
The Curious Grape in Shirlington is putting on two free seminars on American cheese. Topics include the history of cheese and growth in artisanal cheesemaking. Free samples, paired with wine, round out the event. The seminars are at 6 and 7 (each lasts 50 minutes), and space is limited. Call 703-671-8700 to reserve a spot.

Wednesday, September 1
Learn about cooking seafood at Zola Wine & Kitchen’s Fully Loaded Shellfish class. Dishes are clams casino, mussels with tomato and fennel, lobster tail, and oysters Rockefeller. The class, which starts at 6:30, is $80 and includes a glass of wine. To sign up, click here.

Thursday, September 2
At a vegetarian cooking class, Cookology is teaching participants how to make green-lentil-and-pea spread, paneer curry with basmati rice, and rose-scented cashew fudge. The hands-on workshop is $59 and runs from 7 to 9. To reserve a spot, click here.

Friday, September 3
As part of a rum-filled weekend (events go through Sunday), Café Atlántico is hosting a free tasting from 4 to 6. Labels include Rhum Barbancourt, Mount Gay, and Appleton Estate. Check here for updates on other events.

Saturday, September 4
La Cuisine in Alexandria wants to help you upgrade your Labor Day hamburgers and hot dogs. From 11 to 5, the store is holding a tasting of gourmet mustards, mayos, and other grill-party condiments. Products include four kinds of French mustard and an organic Spanish ketchup. There’s a 15-percent discount on the featured products.

Sunday, September 5
To celebrate the end of summer, 3 Bar & Grill is roasting a pig on its patio and selling pulled-pork sandwiches ($3) from 5 to 10. There will also be drink specials at the bar.
