A shot from one of Jodi Moraru's favorite weddings, held June 2007 at the Willard.
Thursday marks the final round of wedding planners doling out free advice on this blog—so make the most of it. This week Bridal Party will welcome Jodi Moraru, an event planner who has been in the business almost 18 years. She started her current company, Jodi Moraru & Associates, ten years ago and is going strong, personally doing about ten events a year.
Jodi and her colleagues have planned destination weddings, ecofriendly weddings, commitment ceremonies, and more. She sees her job as more than just a client/planner business relationship: “I’m your new best friend,” she says. And what are friends for if not to answer your questions? Submit them here or during the chat (Thursday 11 AM to noon). Coming up in February: a smorgasbord of new chatters, who may or may not include a local florist and the owner of a popular wedding salon. As always, details to come.

Another Monday, another edition of Love Stories, a Bridal Party feature on the most romantic, surprising, or just plain quirky tales of love and marriage in Washington. This week, meet newlyweds with a detective-story engagement.
Scott and Jennifer on their wedding day in November 2007.
Two Christmases ago, Jennifer Muns had her boyfriend’s plan to propose all figured out. Scott was going to ask her to become Mrs. Jennifer Basinger on May 6, 2007, and she couldn’t wait.
“We had been at his company’s Christmas party, and on my name card he had written the numbers 151617,” Jenn says. “Then he wrote, ‘I love you. Scott.’ He was like, ‘You’re going to figure out later what it’s all about.’ ”
Jenn decoded the digits as 5/6/7, or May 6 of the following year. The couple had already talked about getting engaged, so—aha!—that must be the date he’s going to ask, she thought. She didn’t tell Scott her guess but kept thinking about how wonderful May 6 would be.

Friday afternoon—there’s no better time to read about fashion.
Pink? Really? Find out with MW Tux's color coordinator.
Attention, grooms: While your fiancées are busy experimenting with Steve Madden’s design-a-shoe tool, you can do a little e-planning of your own. MW Tux, the formalwear division of Men’s Wearhouse, has an online tuxedo color coordinator that takes your wedding’s color scheme and spits out a selection of complementary vest and tie shades. Select the color block on the screen that’s the closest fit to your bridesmaid dresses, and the what-your-groomsmen-should-wear suggestion will appear on the bottom in swatch form and on the right as the actual vest. Even if you’re not using Men’s Wearhouse for the big day, it’s a good way to brainstorm color options. Teal with light blue? Who knew? Bridal Party wants to know: Do you think groomsmen and bridesmaids should match exactly, or wear complementary shades? Share your thoughts in the comments section. Drew and Emily showing off their cowboy boots.
The Backstory It’s been a whirlwind fall. Drew and I met in early September at The Washingtonian: I was an intern, and he’s an assistant editor. My second day on the job, Drew lingered by my desk and asked me questions about my time at the University of Missouri. We had overlapped for two years at Mizzou’s journalism school without meeting. But that day, he had me hooked with his southern accent and kind brown eyes, and I spent the next few weeks in agony. Looking back, we both see how apparent our interest in each other was, but at the time I was a wreck. “Do you think he likes me?” I asked my mom and girlfriends incessantly. “What do you think he meant by this?”
