One sweet piece of wedding inspiration per day
REMEMBERING THE FIRST FIVE YEARS Okay, okay—we were totally mocking the suggestion of writing down a line a day about the first five years of your marriage. But then we thought back to The Notebook and how we shamelessly bawled our eyes out over Noah, Allie, and the story-of-their-love twist ending. Sigh. In that love-of-my-life-has-Alzheimer's-and-she-can't-remember-me (yes, we're spoiling it, and, no, we don't care) light, we fully rescind the snide comments we were set to make about this five year journal. Record away, happy couples. Write down every first kiss and big fight. If nothing else, it'll make for excellent reading material for your grandchildren the day they uncover it in your dusty old attic. $17.96 at barnesandnoble.com Subscribe to Washingtonian Follow Washingtonian on Twitter

MASON JAR PIES There's only so much fondant this world can take, so kudos to the bride who replaces an overly-iced wedding cake for dozens of All Jarred Up's adorable little mason jar pies. We're suckers for the grape for obvious reasons (helloooo little heart), but the pecan, pear, and banana bread renditions sound mighty tasty, too. $7 to $11 each at etsy.com
