Elegant Black and White Wedding at the Corcoran Gallery of Art

Jie Shi and Dynne Sung married on August 23, 2014.

Sometimes keeping it classic is best, and that’s just what Dynne Sung and Jie Shi did in this gorgeous wedding at the Corcoran Gallery of Art–from the black, white, and gold color scheme to the fine draping to their classy four-tier cake. All of the upscale elegance is captured in the photos below by Anny. Photography.

Though Dynne was working in New York City at the time, when her friend—who was also Jie’s friend from college—introduced her to Jie, she was ready just two weeks later to take the trip down to DC for a first date. They spent the weekend in Fairfax—she was smitten with his smile and he loved how much they had in common.

They had dated just three months when they took a cruise around Europe, stopping in at Spain France, and Italy. While off the coast of Italy on the island of Capri, Jie brought Dynne up to a private garden that overlooked the ocean, and it was there that he asked her to stay with him forever.

After 15 months of planning, the pair married on August 23, 2014, decking out the Corcoran with Dynne’s favorite flowers—white orchids—and giving their guests time to wander the beautiful art galleries. Guests sipped on cocktails—Jack Rose for the groom and Fresh Start for the bride.

At the end of the night, Jie and Dynne sent their guests home with a reminder of the magical evening—a book of the Corcoran Gallery’s art collections that guests could take home in pocket or coffee table sizes.
