It wasn’t love at first sight for Meghan Coffey, a research analyst, and Matthew White, a program manager—but friendship. The two met during senior year of high school and instantly became best friends. After three years and countless weekend trips between University of Virginia, Matthew’s school, and George Mason, which Meghan attended, Matthew finally asked Meghan out during a New Year’s trip to Germany. It was on another vacation in the Hamptons, five years later, when Matt popped the question. “We had gone to dinner in Southampton and were driving back to Montauk. He stopped at a scenic overlook so we could get out and look at the moon. When we got back in the car, he turned to me, pulled the ring out of his pocket, and asked me,” says the bride. Their glamorous wedding affair took place on November 10, 2012.
