Inauguration Airfare: LA to DC for $12,000

The luxury airline Spectrum Air announced today that it’s offering round-trip flights from Los Angeles to Washington during the inauguration. The cost of a ticket: $12,000.

Flights will depart from private terminals at Van Nuys Airport and usher passengers to Dulles International Airport. Guests will fly on ten-passenger jets, which feature in-flight gourmet meals on fine china and linen. As an added bonus, the airline will arrange for a town-car shuttle to and from both airports.

Spectrum’s fleet is composed of jets subcontracted from other companies. “It’s an opportunity for individuals to purchase a seat on a corporate jet,” says Bruce Sands, president of the company.

No tickets have been booked for the inauguration flights, but Sands says lots of people have shown interest. Depending on demand, he’s planning to offer four flights, which will depart and return based on the travelers’ schedules.
