The best Congressional tweets of the week. By Sophie Gilbert

Summer must be in the air, because Congress is all a-Twitter (sorry) with talk of yard work, surfing, gun shows … and Mariska Hargitay, whose starring role in Law & Order: SVU apparently makes her an expert on DNA. Presumably this means we’ll be seeing Patrick Dempsey testify about brain surgery and Matthew Fox speak about the dangers of air travel in the not-so-distant future. Meanwhile, Cathy McMorris Rodgers seems to be looking into the art of subliminal hashtagging. Could this be a new trend?

In other news, John Cornyn has one-upped Borat and perfected the art of the “nooooot” joke, which will doubtless come in handy at some of his more boring budget committee meetings. Bill Posey is a fan of spaceships and Kelly Slater, Earl Blumenauer is on his bike (as usual), Mark Warner is mourning Richmond’s loss of Chapstick, and Joe Wilson is fighting back against the sprawling, omnipotent power of Nancy Pelosi (you can help him by sending him money). A very happy anniversary to Zach Wamp, and kudos to Arlen Specter for his grace in defeat.
