Tweet Beat: Lent Edition

Lawmakers give up sweets but not basketball rivalries

Happy Friday! Are you still waiting for your clothes to dry after Mother Nature dumped a ridiculous amount of rain in Washington? Or maybe you’re going through withdrawal like Michigan Representative Thaddeus McCotter, who gave up sweets for Lent? TGIF has never sounded so sweet (well, except for McCotter).

Representative Jim Himes: @jahimes  Great shot on the buzzer Kemba! Congrats UConn! St. John’s and/or Syracuse—your reckoning is upon you.

We have three Syracuse alums here at Washingtonian, Jim. UConn’s going down!

Representative Thaddeus McCotter: @ThadMcCotter 8 hours into Ash Wednesday; Lenten offering to avoid sweets still kept; baby steps. . . .

So, it’s not a good idea to tell you that the cupcake shop Sprinkles just opened on M Street?

DC Househusband Rich Amons: @RichAmons When a woman ask u this trick question “ Do u think she is attractive?” The answer is always “No” or “ Hell No” or sum variation. #ManRule

Thanks for spreading the word. A little reminder never hurts.

Senator Orrin Hatch: @OrrinHatch Excited to be co-hosting a Technology forum with Facebook Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. http://on.fb.me/fTlsws#utpol

Ask him why he and his dog Beast haven’t accepted my friend requests yet.
