Talk about making your vacation plans interesting: Sheila Johnson, BET founder, philanthropist, and president of the Washington Mystics, announced a special playoff package at one of her resort hotels in Tampa. Innisbrook Golf & Spa resort is offering point-based package prices tied to each playoff game the Mystics win. So a 72-59 point win will mean a per person nightly rate of $72, and if the Mystics win the tournament, the resort will take an additional 10 percent off their average score.
Two Jersey Shore-themed deals this week (we’re already planning our Snooki costume for Halloween): Fly.com has round-trip nonstop flights to Miami for $191 for the rest of the year, taxes and fees included. Come December, it’s the perfect place for some GTL. But if you’d rather keep it original, the four-star Seaview Hotel on the Jersey Shore (where both the Rolling Stones and Grace Kelly once stayed) has slashed its prices in half, offering September and October rates of only $99 a night, Sunday through Thursday (usually $199). The resort sits on 670 acres and has a golf course, an Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, and tennis courts. Even better? It’s a mere eight miles from Atlantic City.
This Saturday marks both the fourth annual Columbia Heights Day and the first DC State Fair (yes, we know, DC isn’t a state). You can find both at the Harriet Tubman Elementary Field (11th and Kenyon sts., NW), and like any decent state fair there’ll be pie contests, jam contests, biggest-vegetable contests, and in a nod to our famous neighbors in Georgetown, cupcake contests. Also live music, dog shows, yoga, and more. 10 AM to 6 PM; free.
