Local Basketball Legend Here to Stay? Washington Wizards shooting guard Roger Mason bought this five-bedroom, five-bath contemporary in Upper Marlboro for $882,000. The house is part of Oak Creek Club, a new gated golf community. A Washington native, Mason was a basketball star at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Wheaton and played for the University of Virginia. After stints with the Chicago Bulls, the Toronto Raptors, and a European team, Mason was signed by the Wizards in 2006.

Landis Construction won the COTY "Best Exterior over $100,000" award for transforming this 1960s split-level in Kensington into a Craftsman-style bungalow.
A large gable hides the existing roof line and creates a warm, inviting front porch reminiscent of a 1930s-style bungalow.
Most of you liked the remodeling project I posted last week, which was more drastic—and expensive—than this renovation. Whereas last week's project was a whole-house remodel, this one focuses mainly on the facade. Thoughts? I'm a bigger fan of this one, but maybe that's just me...
