Wednesday, February 17
The Washington Humane Society is getting red-carpet ready with a fundraiser for its upcoming Fashion for Paws event. Adoptable dogs and possibly cats will be at the Ritz-Carlton from 8 to 11.

Friday, February 19
Nervous new dog parents can get a free crash course at the Washington Animal Rescue League’s monthly class. Led by a trainer, the seminar covers house training, socialization, and more. 6:15 to 7:45 at 71 Oglethorpe Street, Northwest. E-mail training@warl.org to RSVP.

Saturday, February 20
It’s been a long winter. If you’re looking for a fuzzy friend to keep your feet toasty, look no further than Coldwell Banker’s Dupont Circle office (1606 17th St., NW). Dogs and maybe cats from the Washington Humane Society are up for adoption from noon to 2:30.

Former racing greyhounds will rest their legs at Wylie Wagg (11889 Grand Commons Ave., Fairfax) for a Greyhound Welfare open house. Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions. Noon to 2.

Sunday, February 21
The pet boutique Living Ruff (8517 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring) hosts a Washington Humane Society dog-adoption event from 12:30 to 2.

Cats in need of a permanent scratching post are at the Big Bad Woof (117 Carroll St., NW) for a Companion Animal Rescue Alliance adoption event from noon to 3.
