Cherry Blossom Art and Photography Join the Corcoran Gallery of Art on Saturday, April 2, from 2 to 4 on the steps of the Jefferson Memorial for Drawing from Cherry Blossoms, a free, hands-on family workshop. Participants will be invited to capture the aesthetics of Washington’s iconic trees on paper using pencils, ink, charcoal, or oil pastels. This event is recommended for ages 8 to 16. And for all the budding photographers out there, the Corcoran is hosting the photo contest Blossoms in Bloom, also for ages 8 to 16. Submit your best picture of this year’s Cherry Blossoms by April 12 for the chance to win a Corcoran family membership and to have your photo featured on the Corcoran’s Web site. Images should be e-mailed to education@corcoran.edu.
Donate Diapers to the DC Diaper Bank Wondering what to do with all the extra diapers your child has outgrown or mercifully doesn’t need because he or she is potty-trained? Consider donating them to the DC Diaper Bank, a local nonprofit that provides diapers to social-service organizations helping low-income families. On Saturday, April 2, from 9 to 1, the Whole Foods in downtown Silver Spring is hosting a DC Diaper Drop, so drop off your diapers or purchase a few new packs en route. The DC Diaper Bank accepts new, clean, disposable diapers.
